CV Examples & CV Templates Ireland

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

I regularly get requests for CV Examples and CV Templates from jobseekers in Ireland. Personally my advice is DON’T TAKE TEMPLATES OF THE INTERNET. Why? Because most of them are dated and used as a ploy to attract you to the webiste. Remember there is no such thing as a free lunch. Ideally I recomment that jobseekers pay for a professional CV service. (But I guess I would as it is my business)

I appreciate that not everyone can afford to have their CV written by a professional so I have looked online for some sites to recommend for CV Templates. To be honest they are not great but here goes CV Template Example 1 and CV Template Example 2.

Professional CV Writing Service – CV Preparation & Advice

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

How your CV can help you through a difficult job market.

Unless you don’t listen to the radio, read the papers or watch the news on TV it is quite hard to miss the bombardment of negative stories about the Irish economy. Recession, job loss and debt are all words unfamiliar on these shores for well over a decade. Developments over the last year have a direct impact on job hunting and therefore individuals need to get themselves in tiptop shape when entering the job market.

The most important change in the job market is that there is now more competition facing jobseekers. In recent years many employers struggled to source suitable candidates often employing a less than ideal recruit. Now there are less companies recruiting and more unemployment so more people looking for work. This means that there will certainly be more choice fore employers. Jobseekers will have to make sure that they have an IMPACT CV, utilise all available job search strategies and sell themselves at interview.

CV – IMPACT CV

Fortunately for you most CV’s are poor. This means that if you put some effort into your CV you will increase your application to interview ratio. The more interviews you get the better chance you have of landing a job. You need to consider CV Layout, CV Format and ensure that your CV is focused. Remember your CV has a short window of opportunity to make an impact so don’t waste this opportunity.

CV service – Writing CV’s in Ireland

CV Writing Service in Ireland

When you have identified your career direction the next logical step is to write a CV. Most jobseekers will have an old CV but others are starting from scratch. I would probably say that most jobseekers should start from scratch as 95% of CV’s I review are seriously flawed. Generally speaking jobseekers do not get CV’s or the basics behind good CV writing. Rather than point out the flaws I have identified some scenarios that many jobseekers fall into.

CV writing service – “The ME CV”

When writing your CV did you consider the employer?

It is amazing how many jobseekers fail to consider the recruiter when writing a CV. This will mean that a CV lacks focus and will contain vast amounts of information that is not relevant. Understand the client and what they want before you can truly write a focused CV that makes an impact.

CV writing service – “The patched up CV”

Did you write a CV early in your career and then each time you entered the job market just stick on details of your last role?

This is quite common. Many jobseekers prepared a CV early on in their career and just add on additional employment details every time they re-enter the job market. The problem with this CV is that it is often clear how it was formed. A big “tell” is the fact that quite often different formats and fonts are used with the add on details

CV writing service – “The general CV”

Do you have one CV that you send to every job without amending?

Cardinal sin!! Ok if you are a sales rep and you are applying for sales jobs you can argue that one CV will suit all jobs. However within sales employers still have different requirements. But more importantly certain information may be more relevant to certain recruiters such as previous industry experience or even some of your hobbies & interests. Tailor your CV for each job.

If you need help with your CV contact us. We offer a CV service nationwide in counties Cork, Galway, Mayo, Donegal, Kerry, Tipperary, Tyrone, Clare, Antrim, Limerick, Roscommon, Down, Wexford, Meath, Londonderry, Kilkenny, Wicklow, Offaly, Cavan, Westmeath, Waterford, Sligo, Laois, Kildare, Fermanagh, Leitrim, Monaghan, Armagh, Longford, Dublin, Carlow and Louth.

CV Service Nationwide – Writing CV’s in Dublin, Galway, Cork, Limerick & Galway

Monday, March 10th, 2008

Most jobseekers do not realise that 99% of CV design is completed by phone and email. You do not actually have to meet the CV expert. In fact I will only meet clients for Career Assessment, Career Coaching or Interview Coaching. I find that meeting with individuals only adds time to the process – and time adds to the cost. I work with clients all over the country including Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway and Waterford.

I design CV’s for all levels of the organisation and all business functions. I design CV’s for Executives, Professional and Graduates. I have designed CV’s for sales, IT, production, engineering, materials, finance and management.

What does my CV look like?

I have worked in careers, HR and recruitment for 14 years. I have seen everything when it comes to CV’s and CV design – the good, the bad and the ugly. I am a career doctor with The Irish Independent and The Sunday Tribune and regularly write CV articles for a number of online sites including RecruitIreland. If you need an impact CV whay not check out my profile or read what other individuals had to say about my work.

I would be more than happy to provide more information about my CV service or my other services career coaching, career assessment and interview coaching. Feel free to contact me or visit my website for more information.
